The UNI-T UT586+ Digital RCD Tester is a professional electrical safety tester designed for verifying the operation and performance of Residual Current Devices (RCDs), RCCBs and compatible earth-leakage protection devices.

Designed for both single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, the UT586+ measures RCD trip time and trip current, helping electricians and commissioning technicians verify that installed protection devices operate correctly under simulated earth-leakage conditions.

With selectable RCD test currents from 10mA to 1000mA, multiple test multipliers, AUTO RAMP testing, 0°/180° phase-angle selection, automatic testing, wiring checks and AC voltage/frequency measurement, the UT586+ provides a practical solution for installation commissioning, periodic inspection and electrical maintenance.

Rated CAT III 600V and compliant with applicable IEC 61010 and IEC 61557 requirements, the UT586+ is designed for professional electrical testing environments.

Verify RCD Protection

RCDs are designed to disconnect an electrical circuit when potentially dangerous residual or earth-leakage current is detected.

Simply pressing the TEST button on an RCD confirms that the device can mechanically operate, but it does not provide the technician with detailed information about:

  • Actual trip time
  • Trip current
  • Performance at different test currents
  • Response at different waveform phase positions

The UT586+ allows these characteristics to be measured and recorded during installation testing, commissioning and maintenance.

RCD Trip-Time Testing

The UT586+ can test the operating time of an RCD by injecting a controlled residual test current.

Available test-current multipliers include:

½ × IΔn

1 × IΔn

2 × IΔn

5 × IΔn

This allows technicians to assess how the RCD behaves at different levels of simulated residual current.
